The Impact of Multimedia Training on Mental Models of Simple Processes

The purpose off this paper is t o describe work in progress o n a project which is designed t o study how multimedia training m a y impact people's mental models off le’ simple processes. . A tutorial is under development which helps people learn how to construct a n abstract model off the steps needed t o produce a letter o n a typewriter, and a how to change this model when the task moves t o a comu puterized setting. Subjects have been recruited t o participate in this study, and the current status off the project is discussed. .
